The first set of cards combining Rune and herbs in the world
The wonderful combinations of mysterious Runes and healing herbs with the fresh illustrations which are as delicate as European handbooks of herbs.
Due to wicca and archeology, Runes gets people’s attention once again. Rune characters were used around 500 BC in northern Europe. Rune characters have changed several times because of different regions and the evolution of time. Its meaning has been interpreted differently in the modern divination. THE HERBAL RUNES contain the 24 characters that are the most widely used in Taiwan, matching the characters with the original plants, so that the warm power of healing herbs is added to the simple Runes. In addition, each card not only shows the original meaning of Runes, but also the reminder from the plants.
To keep the hand-drawing handbook style, I chose a white background to emphasize the herbs’ vivid colors. The back of the cards shows the Yggdrasil, a mythical tree in Nordic mythology. Its branches and roots form a circle, showing the life and mysteries of the universe. The users can feel the power of the earth, calm and focused, from its brown trunk and khaki green background while shuffling the cards. On the opposite side, the composition of herbs is designed to imply the meaning of the Rune characters. The plants’ whispering is also a guide to read the meaning of the cards. I suggest reading the cards from the meanings of the Rune characters before adding the implications from the herbs.
The cards are printed on gold sand card papers which are thicker than other Tarot cards, and it has the pearl oil protection coating that keep it from wearing and tearing. This is the very first set of rune cards that combines the herbs in the world, it is also the first set of rune cards in Chinese-language that is created and painted by the divinator herself.
